School Defibrillator Debut on World Heart Day

30 September 2022

Yesterday, on #WorldHeartDay2022, Holywood Steiner welcomed the Mayor of Ards and North Down, Councillor Karen Douglas to their school to unveil the new defibrillator kindly donated by the PFA.

It was a joyous occasion, made all the more special by the involvement of Rosa and her Mum Aoife. Big thanks to all in Class 6 and teacher Trish for the 'wet on wet' piece of art and line drawing of the school which is now hanging in the Mayor's Parlour. The pupils raised almost £100 on the day by wearing red and donating to Childrens Heartbeat Trust.

Cardiac Arrest Statistics are alarming and not confined to persons of an older age - If an adult or a child goes into cardiac arrest, without a defibrillator, there is only a 7% chance of survival.

Best of luck to Rosa for her heart procedure next week!
